Shetland is the traditional colorwork wool: it's a little rustic and slightly grabby, so the stitches sit tight against each other and the fabric evens out and softens once you wet block it. It also holds crisp stitch definition, which makes it just as good for cables and textured stitch patterns as it is for stranded yokes and mittens.
